USMLE Step 2CK Breakdown Haseeb  Mukhtar Batch of ‘21   Hello again, aspirants! It seems like you have completed the Step 1 of the USMLE examinations. Take this moment to be proud of yourself for having reached this milestone. Now, I know a lot of you have countless number of questions regarding the right approach towards Step 2CK. I understand it can be a bit confusing at the start. Let’s face it, CK resources are not as clearly defined as Step 1 resources are. Having been through this, I wanted to take this  opportunity  to help you out in the prep journey for an exam that is probably now the most important component of the USMLE series. I have divided this article into three sections based on your stage of prep. Like before, I won't be talking much about my own experience since I firmly believe that everyone has their own way of going about this exam. Have fun!   PART ONE – For those just getting started: 1.  So, it hasn’t been that long since you...

M. Ali Lak STEP 1 Experience

My STEP 1 Experience   Hello Guys! I’m Muhammad Ali Lak from the recently graduated final year MBBS, having taken my prof in January ’22. Batch: Dec 16- Feb 22 I am currently skipping house job to study for step 2. I consider myself an above average student, having always gone for the bigger books like KLM/Guyton over the useless review books. My advice is to stick to the big books preferably by foreign authors throughout college, as it really helps to build a broad base, which is of utmost importance in preparing for STEP1. I started properly studying for STEP1 on 14 th February 2021 (LOL) and sat for t...

Arfa Ashraf USMLE STEP 1 Experience 250 +

Lazy girl guide ; 250+ This isn’t something you should be reading to find out how to study, plenty of posts about that by people who did better than me. This is more of a 2 am post you read, when you’re drowning in anxiety and self-doubt, and everyone except you seems to have everything under control. You aren’t alone, I promise. I say lazy because I did not complete A LOT of things I wanted to do or was told that I absolutely had to do to get a good score. My prep was all over the place, and I was always jumping from one thing to another, never completing anything. If that’s you, and you can’t seem to work hard like everyone around you, or be as organized everyone else is, I hope this can give you some hope. Here is a list of resources I used, and how I used them. 1.        Uworld: The absolute best.   With step 1 now going to pass/fail, the only resource you need. I started my prep directly with First Aid and U world. Please don’t wo...

Overcoming low NBME scores - Zaroon Haider Khan

Hi everybody, I am Zaroon Haider Khan, student of final year MBBS at CMH Lahore Medical College. Mostly a below average student, only producing good when necessary xD.   Mostly gulping huge volumes of knowledge in the last minutes. Someone who when studying always looks for shortcuts and always thinks about barely passing the exams, since I have a life and I want to focus on that too. On step 1 Alhumdulillah I was able to manage a 230s which to me is a quite comfortable place to be in. I will write shortly about the gold standard method of step 1 as I will be talking more about the bad decisions we make and then bad results we see. Standard Step 1 route Time duration as a medical student: 12 months to 18 months. Time duration as a graduate with lot of free time at hand: 9 months to 12 months Time duration when it becomes pass-fails: 6 months Sources: 1.        Medical school curriculum. When in medical school I would highly recom...

CMH Dramatics Society- Shanzay Bilal

CMH Medical College Lahore Dramatics Society . This article is a bit different from what you’ve been reading on this space. It’s about my experience with CMH Dramatics Society. My name is Shanzay Bilal, I’m in BDS final year and I’m the current president of this society. University life is all about making memories and for me a lot of them were made around my friends from the Dramatics Society! The way it began . A big part of my school life revolved around being in co-curricular activities. Those are the times embedded deep in my memory. My most fond memory is hosting our school’s annual night when I was in grade 1. Sounds funny now that I think about it but that’s how it began! From then on I’ve been a part of narrations, school plays, debates etc. The Balancing Act . Joining med-school was such a challenge but after coming to CMH balancing my studies and passions was my goal. I registered myself for the dramatics society in the very first month when I heard about weekly dr...
